Shaam turns producer with Agam Puram

Actor Shaam made his debut in Tamil film industry with ‘13B’ and continued gaining more appreciations for his laudable performances in ‘Lesa Lesa’, ‘Iyarkai’, ‘Ae Nee Romba Azhaga Irukka’ and ‘Thoondil’.

Now, Shaam gears up with a new avatar as a producer. Last evening, the actor revealed about his new plans of producing films during a media interaction sessions.

While speaking to the media he said, “I was a chocolate hero and now I have become an action hero through the film Agam Puram. Director Thirumalai who trusted me made me act in the role which I desired. You will see a new Shaam in this film. This film is also being released in Telugu with the title Gang War. It has been 8 years since I had come to cinema. Only now I have understood cinema fully. I have started a production house called S I R Presents. Thirumalai will be directing two films on behalf of this production house. After this, we will give opportunity to new directors and actors who have good talent. I have planned to produce two films per year.”

'Agam Puram' to be directed by Thirumalai and Produced by M.Gopalakrishnan under the banner of Madurai GK Films was launched at AVM Pillaiyar Kovil.

Shaam is the hero of the film. Sundar C Babu is the music composer. Producer Kalaipuli G Sekar, 'Paruthiveeran' fame actor Sarvananan and actor Arya attended the function.

SHAAM'S NEW ROLE

Shaam will turn producer for his upcoming flick ‘Agam Puram’. He announced the decision at a media interaction held last evening at Benz Park Hotel, Chennai.
Agam Puram is directed by Thirumalai and was earlier produced by GK Films Corporation and as the budget crossed above-the-line, the producers backed off from the project after which Shaam stepped in to save the project. Shaam mentioned that it was only accidental he became a producer. He will also produce another flick Dhusi, based on a true story.

That apart, he will also be seen in Thillalangadi, remake of the Telugu blockbuster Kick.

Shaam’s movie runs into legal trouble
The release of Shaam’s Agam Puram is stayed by the Madras High Court over a legal dispute of non-payment of dues by the producer to the Madurai Kamaraj Memorial Medical and Educational Trust. A writ petition seeking action against the producer Gopalakrishnan for pending loans to the tune of Rs. 25 lakhs was earlier filed in the High Court by Ramachandran, a trustee.

After taking into consideration the complaint, the court has issued a stay order on the release. Agam Puram, with Shaam and Meenakshi, was supposed to be released for Diwali and it’s not quite obvious if the movie will be cleared from the legal wrangle and stick to its release date.

After Agam Puram it's Maan Vettai

After completing Shaam's Agam Puram, director Thirumalai will start his next film titled Maan Vettai, which will have Seeman, son of a DMK functionary in the lead. If sources are to be believed then Maan Vettai will narrate the story of a young guy whose life takes a surprising twist after falling in love. The film is expected to be an commercial entertainer.

Agam Puram, directed by Thirumalai with Shaam and Meenakshi in lead role will be dubbed in Telugu as Gang War. Shaam will be seen in a new avatar. The film's promo stills and glimpses of actor’s bulging muscles give us a hint that this movie might turn out to be a rollercoaster action flick.

Insiders say Shaam will have ample opportunity to showcase his acting skills in this movie about an idealistic young man who turns into a corrupt businessman after a few bitter knocks in life. This will give Shaam a chance to don several different costumes portraying different social levels.
