Simbu and his ‘Kettavan’
After the emotionally exhausting Vallavan, Simbu had decided to play the lead in Vishnuvardhan’s movie, which was reported by us earlier.
Now that Vishnu is busy with his Sarvam, Simbu will have to wait for a couple of months for his next project.
It appears that Simbu is now toying with the idea of signing for Sundar C’s next venture.
Unconfirmed news sources reveal that Simbu may sign for Sundar C’s ‘Malai’ since Sundar has just wrapped up his shoots for Rendu under his home production banner starring Maddy, Reema, and Anoushka in the lead. Nothing decided as yet and Simbu is holidaying in Sanfrancisco – reported by us earlier as well. It is quite possible that inspired by the vacation he may come up with another script and direct himself yet again.
Whilst on the subject, Simbu has a story ready to be made into a movie tentatively titled Kettavan, which would require him to star in – hold your breath - 5 different roles. Ouch. He claims that he has finished writing the script a couple of years ago.
Namitha , referred as the oomph girl of Kollywood is smart, extremely confident and knows exactly what she wants. After she did a couple of films with senior stars in the industry, Nami has gone for a total image make-over doing small but significant roles in films with top young stars like Vijay and Ajit.
And in Billa with Ajit, she is said to be rocking as her director Vishnuvardhan cant stop speaking about the manner in which she looks glamorous with the right attitude. Namitha spoke from Mysore where she is shooting for a Kannada film: “I am doing a film with Darshan the hot star of Kannada and it is a remake of Arasufrom Tamil. This is my second Kannada film and here I’m getting good performance oriented roles.”
On reports in Tamil dailies that she has been replaced in Simbu’s Kettavan the actress is quick to reply: “I don’t know who spreads such rumours. I am shooting with Simbu from September 3 and it is a very good role for me.”
Now will Simbu stop talking about Mandira Bedi’s and Sherin’s dying to work with him, and instead concentrate on his work and let the box-office speak
‘Kettavan’ as good as shelved
Tamil actor Simbu’s much-hyped “Kettavan” has been shelved and he says he has now moved away from it.
“My father made a negatively-titled ‘Oru Thalai Raagam’, which became a musical hit. I too wanted to try something of that sort and started ‘Kettavan’… unfortunately the film couldn’t be taken beyond a certain point. The project is as good as off. I have now moved away from it,” Simbu, son of well-known filmmaker Vijaya TR, told IANS.
Simbu, who debuted in films when he was just a toddler some decades ago, is one of the most sought-after actors. He is well-trained in singing, dancing and martial arts as well.
But his last few films didn’t do well - while his “Kaalai” was a disaster, “Silambaattam” did moderate business at the box office.
But Simbu is not perturbed and concentrating on “Poda Podi”, which he says is very much on.
“No, it (’Poda Podi’) hasn’t been called off and would be my next film. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, whom the media claimed was out of the project, would be my heroine in the film. Tarun would be the music director,” said Simbu.
Asked about his next project “Vaaliban”, he said: “If the media names my next film as per its imagination and I’m asked to comment on it, I don’t know what I can say!”
Is he still angry with the media?
“My mobile is always switched on and scribes should better check with me before writing anything about me,” he said.
Lekha, NOT a Kettavan
Lekha’s part in Kettavan has recently been greatly in the news – whether she will be in the movie or not. While there were quite a few rumours that the VJ-turned-actress had been dropped from the movie because her acting skills were not good enough, there was no one to confirm the same. Fans and media personnel have been keenly following the news wondering if the demure damsel, who had been linked with the Little Super Star just a few weeks ago, has indeed been delinked from the whole project. Well, now Lekha herself has confirmed that she is no more a part of Kettavan and that she was unceremoniously dropped from the cast. Was it really her bad acting that came in the way? Or is there a different angle/ curve to the issue?
