The movie was launched at a gala affair in Thamukkam Grounds in Madurai on the occasion of Alagiri's birthday. Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal lit the kuthuvilakku, Alagiri's wife Gandhi Alagiri started the clap and Alagiri operated the camera. His daughters Kayalvizhi and Selvi were also present on the occasion.
The movie has cinematography by Vijay Ulaganathan, a former associate of K V Anand. Music is by Sundar C Babu, editing by Suresh and art by Santhanam.
The co-producer for the film is Vivek Rathinavelu, production supervision by K Sundararaj and executive production by Sushanth.

After the success of the differently made ‘Thamizh Padam’ Dhayanidhi Alagiri has launched his next film under the banner of Cloud Nine Movies. The new film ‘Thoonga Nagaram’ was launched at a ceremony yesterday which was also the 59th birthday of MK Alagiri, the father of the producer.
‘Thoonga Nagaram’ with a self explanatory title is about the life and times in Madurai city. The film is written and directed by Gaurav. Sundar C Babu of ‘Anjathey’ fame is the music director. ‘Pasanga’ fame Vimal, ‘Naadodigal’ fame Bharani and ‘Renigunta’ Nishanth play important roles. ‘Thamizh MA’ Anjali is the heroine.
With ‘Thamizh Padam’ stamping the quality mark on Cloud Nine Movies one can expect another interesting film from the production house.

Producer Dayanidhi Azhagiri’s Thamizh Padam hit the marquee yesterday (January 29th) and he has already announced his next venture Thoonga Nagaram. Incidentally, the film went on floors on Azhagiri’s birthday, January 29. The MP attended the movie launch at the Thamukkam Grounds in Madurai.
The film is directed by debut director Gaurav, who had apprenticed under ace director K S Ravi Kumar. Thoonga Nagaram, which is set in Madurai, has ‘Pasanga’ Vimal, ‘Nadodigal’ Bharani and ‘Renigunta Nishanth’ in important roles.
Director Gaurav also dons the greasepaint in his debut vehicle. Anjali plays the female lead in Thoonga Nagaram.

Vijay Ulaganathan, an erstwhile associate to KV Anand is the cinematographer. Sundar C Babu has scored the music. Editing is by Suresh and Santhanam is in-charge of the art direction.
Vivek Rathnavelu is the co-producer of Thoonga Nagaram. Production supervision is by K Sundararaj and the executive producer is Sushanth.

Cloud Nine Movies is planning to take Tamil cinema to the next level. For young producer Dhayanidhi Alagiri is getting ready for a multi-starrer, a longtime dream of Kollywood buffs who are longing for such films after watching many such Bollywood ventures.
Along with Vivek Rathinavel, He is producing a movie with Venkat Prabhu as the director. The confirmed news from sources is that it will be a big budget multi-starrer where the cast is being finalized.
According to sources the film will be on the lines of '3 Idiots' of Bollywood and ' Twenty Twenty' of Mollywood.

Meanwhile information from a press release from Cloud Nine is, their other projects include a film starring Silambarasan with Lingusamy teaming up with ace cinematographer Nirav Shah, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Editor Anthony. Also in Silambarasan’s kitty is a Cloud Nine movie that will be directed by Vettrimaran with G.V Prakash and Vel Raj teaming up.
Besides that 'Thoonga Nagaram', a movie set in the backdrop of Madurai and the 50th film of Ajith directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon is also in the pipeline by Cloud Nine movies.
