‘Muriyadi’ directed by Selva and produced by Kavithalaya features Ganesh Venkatraman and Sathyaraj in the lead. Interestingly, this one is the 59th project of the banner and will have director Balachandar in an important role.
We hear that Nasser was initially offered this role and then the veteran director took over the role himself.
Kavithalaya, the home banner of director Balachandar is already producing ‘Nootrukku Nooru’ with Vinay in the lead.
They have started ‘Muriyadi’ as quickie by this November in Pollachi and are expected to wrap it up by December.
‘Muriyadi’ is the remake of Malayalam film ‘Passenger’ that has Dileep and Sreenivasan in the lead. Ganesh Venkatraman is taking up the lawyer’s role played by Dileep and Sathyaraj is doing the role of Sreenivasan, a common man.
Music of ‘Muriyadi’ is done by D. Imman and yeah, we won’t have a remix from the young man this time!
Ganesh Venkatraman is hero in 'Muriyadi'
Ganesh Venkatraman, who impressed one and all with his power-packed performance in 'Unnai Pol Oruvan', will play the male lead in Selva's action thriller. The film, to be produced by Kavithalaya, has been titled 'Muriyadi'.
The handsome young man debuted in Tamil with Radhamohan's 'Abhiyum Naanum', in which he played a Sardarji’, lover of Trisha's character. But, it was his role in 'UPO' that made producers sit up and take notice. He played a tough as nails encounter cop.
In 'Muriyadi', Ganesh will be playing a fiery criminal lawyer, one who stands up for the poor and needy. Ramya Nambisan of 'Raman Thediya Seethai' fame plays the female lead; veteran Sathiyaraj plays an important role in the film. The shooting for the film will start this month.

Making a remake is short cut to success for directors and producers.
Director Selva is changing gear for a thriller with Sathya Raj donning an important role. The film titled Muriyadi will have Ganesh Venkatraman, the cop of Unnaipol Oruvan in lead role. Also in the cast is common man's super star Sathyaraj and Malayalam hottie Ramya Nambeesan.
The film started shooting in November in Pollachi and is expected to be completed by 15th December.
The story revolves around Ganesh Venkatraman, Sathyaraj and Ramya. The film is about a trio coming together against anti-social elements.
Director claims to put the audience on the edge of their seats.

Renjith Shankar directed Malayalam film Passenger, is the inspiration behind this remake. Ganesh Venkatraman will appear as the lawyer, played by Dileep in the original, the role of the journalist played by Mamtha will be done by Ms. Nambeesan in the remake. Sathyaraj will play the role of the ordinary man done in the original by Sreenivasan.
The movie will carry songs by D Imaan, to suit Tamil aesthetics. Muriyadi is produced by K Balachandar's Kavithalaya.
