The 'Malai Malai' duo is back. Buoyed by the response to their earlier venture, Arun Vijay and director A Venkatesh have
joined hands once again, this time for 'Maanja Velu'. The film is a remake of Telugu blockbuster 'Lakshyam'.
Produced by Feather Touch Entertainment, the film has 'Peranmai' fame Dhanshika playing the female lead. The shooting for
'Maanja Velu' is complete and Arun Vijay hopes that it would repeat the box office magic of 'Malai Malai'.
Interestingly, the actor is sporting a bald look for the first time in his career for a crucial segment in the film.
"Although I was initially apprehensive about tonsuring my head, the director convinced me it would create a greater impact on
the story. Also, I knew this look has worked wonders in the past for many stars, including Superstar Rajinikanth in Sivaji."
Yesteryear actor Karthik is making a comeback to Kollywood with 'Maanja Velu'. The actor, who has been a part of the Tamil
film industry for over 29 years, portrays the role of a police officer and the brother of protagonist Arun Vijay.
Talking about his comeback, Karthik says, "It's an emotional re-union with my peers. I don't know why I drifted away from
acting for years. I want to thank Mani Ratnam for bringing me back to the industry in his film 'Raavan'. It fetched me‘Maanja Velu’.
"I didn't want to sign up for any other film till 'Raavan' was released, but my good friend and colleague Prabhu persuaded me
to take up the 'Maanja Velu' role. Although I only appear in a guest role, it is a powerful cameo," he adds.
Says the heronie Dhanshika, "I play Anjali, a college student, in the film. It is a bubbly role and I am part of not just the
romantic sequences but also the stunt scenes."
"Director Venkatesh has made 'Maanja Velu' with the right commercial elements. I am confident that the movie would become a
blockbuster," she says.
MAANJA VELU IS A SUMMER TREAT
Maanja Velu is all set to release as a summer treat! The movie stars Arun Vijay, Karthik, Prabhu, Dhansika, Vijayakumar and others.
A press note from the Maanja Velu team states that 250 prints of the film have been made ready. The movie is directed A Venkatesh and produced by Feather Touch Entertainment.
The audio of this film, which was released last month, has got a good response and this has created an expectation for Maanja Velu. Arun Vijay is also looking forward to this movie’s release as he is still riding high on the success of Malai Malai.
‘Maanja Velu’: Man and his mission
It’s official now. ‘Maanja Velu’, the second film in the combination of Arun Vijay, director A Venkatesh and Feather Touch Entertainments, is all set to hit screens on May 7, as a ‘perfect summer treat to the movie-buffs’.
Thanks to the success of their previous venture ‘Malai Malai’, the trio has teamed up again for this movie, which too is a commercial entertainer and a remake of Telugu blockbuster ‘Lakshayam’.
Dhanshika of 'Peranmai' fame stars opposite Arun Vijay, while yesteryear top actor Karthik makes his comeback in a pivotal role with this flick. The film also features Prabhu, Santhanam, Ganja Karuppu and others in important characters.
Says the director, “the film is about an angry young man who performs some cruel acts. What made him to take the path of violence forms the crux of the story. Arun Vijay has given his best. The climax scene is going to be one of the highlights.”
Arun Vijay’s Maanja Velu postponed!
Arun Vijay’s ambitious film, the eagerly awaited Maanja Velu, which was scheduled to release on May 7, has now been postponed to May 21.
The delay is due to lack of theatres in Tamil Nadu, as April 30 will see the release of Sura and on May 7 Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam is releasing. At the same time Paiyaa is going strong. Added to that half a dozen other small films are releasing, creating acute theatre shortage.
Though Arun Vijay says: “ All the theatres that screened my earlier hit Malai Malai wanted to screen Maanja Velu, so on a request from them and for a wider release, we have pushed the release date to May 21.”
Arun Vijay goes mottai
Arun Vijay, who bounced back with Malai Malai, has almost completed his next film titled Maanja Velu.
The character that Arun is playing in Maanja Velu requires him to shave his head and hence the actor has tonsure his head.
The film, directed by A.Venkatesh and the climax and stunt sequences of the film will be shot soon.
Arun hopes the magic of mottai will work for him too like it worked for many stars like Rajinikanth in Sivaji. Produced by Feather Touch Entertainment, the film has veterans Karthik and Prabhu playing crucial roles and is expected to hit theatres by February end.
A fight sequence where Arun was suspended upside down was canned at Binny Mills over a period of seven days by stunt choreographer Kanal Kannan.
Maanja Velu with 215 prints
Arun Vijay is on Cloud Nine. His upcoming film Maanja Velu is all set to grace theatres this summer with about 215 prints. After tasting success in Malai Malai, the Arun Vijay-Venkatesh duo is back with Maanja Velu.
Maanja Velu is also an action movie. 'Maanja' is the gluey mix of glass powder and other stuff rubbed on the string of a kite used to cut the strings of rival kites. But if handled wrongly, it can cut you. This forms the basic plot.
Prabhu, Karthik, Ganja Karuppu, Santhanam and others form the supporting cast. The racy numbers tuned by Mani Sharma is already a runaway hit.
Arun Vijay's Maanja Velu from May 7
Arun Vijay’s home venture Maanja Velu has been confirmed for release on May 7. It will be releasing in nearly 350 screens worldwide as there is a positive talk in trade about the film.
Earlier the film was planned for Chithirai Thirunaal, i.e., April 14. But the incomplete post production graphics work did not allow the film to hit the summer earlier.
According to A Venkatesh, the director of the movie, Arun Vijay has done some real dare devil action scenes in the film. Yesteryear romantic hero Karthik is making a comeback with this movie, in an important role. Prabhu also doing a cameo in the film. Arun Vijay will appear b ald in the climax, as he said earlier in a press meet.
