Mani Ratnam`s prestigious project 'Raavan' has completed its shooting schedule and is at the fast pace of post production.
According to the close sources the buzz in the air is that Mani Ratnam has kept everyone guessing even the unit members to keep thinking about the climax of Raavan for which he has shooted four climaxes.
You will be surprised to know that in one of the climax Raavan wins Seetha`s heart, Seetha overcomes Raavan`s tantrums and reaches Rama in another, whereas Rama dies in one of the climax shooted a daring attempt by Mani Ratnam to go against the epic and in another climax Ravana dies as we have in real epic Ramayana.
Watch out for Mani`s 'Raavana' to hit theatres soon

Ravana is supposedly a modern day take on the Ramayana with Abhishek playing the title role. Abhishek Bachchan's sister gets publicly humiliated by the character played by South star Vikram. An angry Abhishek seeks revenge and storms into Vikram’s house. But he doesn't find him there. Wanting to teach him a lesson, Abhishek kidnaps Vikram's wife played by Aishwarya Rai. Chased by the police, Abhishek hides in the nearby jungle. And guess what? Both of Abhi-Ash end up falling in love. What follows next forms the rest of the film. It's Abhi-Ash's love affair that brings in the twist in the tale. Mani's wife Suhasini makes her Bollywood debut with Ravana. Govinda's character is a take on Hanuman from Ramayana who helps Vikram to reach Abhishek. Ravi Kissen plays Abhishek's trusted aide while Nikhil Dwivedi plays a cop.

Maniratnam waits for 10 hours to shoot a sequence

A known perfectionist, ace director Maniratnam reportedly waited for more than 10 hours at a particular spot to film the sequence of a cow giving birth to its calf. The said sequences for filmed for his upcoming film ‘Raavan’, said to be the most expensive film as on date made by the director, who debuted as director way back in the mid-eighties with the Murali-Revathi starrer ‘Pagal Nilavu’.

Mani apparently wanted no computer-generated graphics magic but the actual ‘birth-giving’ sequence involving a cow and a calf. At a cattle-breeding place Ochha in Madhya Pradesh, Mani and the crew reportedly waited for close to ten hours to catch the moment of the cow delivering its calf.

Abishek Bachchan and the entire Unit waited along with Maniratnam to catch the sequence on-camera. Later in the day, when Manir played back the sequence again on the camera, he was absolutely satisfied that the sequence had indeed turned out very well and as per his expectations.

Most of the Unit members said that they hadn’t shot such a sequence in the life time and said that it was truly an ‘unforgettable moment’ for all of them. The shooting of the much-delayed film, which has been in the making now for close to two years, is expected to be wrapped up soon and then the post-production work of re-recording and mixing would begin.

The music of the film is likely to be released by this month end.

Abhishek Bachchan plays a Naxalite leader in ‘Raavana’!

We all know that Abhishek Bachchan plays a negative role in the movie Raavana and his character has shades of one of the greatest mythological villain, Ravan, but the new buzz is that the main inspiration for his role came from the infamous Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy.

As the talented director and a master storyteller Mani Ratnam has a knack for recreating the burning issues of the day in his movies (Roja, Dil Se), he has again tried to do something similar in Raavan. In fact, according to a daily, Mani has even a set of researchers to find out facts about Kobad Ghandy.

As a source tells a daily, “In Raavana, Abhishek plays Veera, a naxalite leader of the downtrodden villagers in eastern Madhya Pradesh. Just like Ghandy’s Communist party India-Maoist is banned, Abhishek’s organisation is also banned in the film.”

Till now, never has a mainstream film touched the issue of naxalism. Mani will try to show it through his version of Ramayana.

Maniratnam risking lives of Aishwarya Rai and Vikram

One of the finest filmmakers in India, Maniratnam is nearly ready with his most ambitious film Raavan. Sources say that the ace filmmaker took inspiration from a real life incident which almost killed him in 1995 to can an extremely risky action scene for the film.

The same source said, Maniratnam wanted stunt director Sham Kaushal to shoot an action sequence in which a petrol bomb was being used. The scene was being shot with Vikram and Aishwarya Rai. It was a difficult scene to execute as Maniratnam wanted the bomb to go off in mid air just a few feet away from Vikram. The bomb was to blast just seconds before it hit the ground. Even if there was a small error in the timing of the blast Vikram would get seriously injured.

Maniratnam insisted that the scene be executed just the way he wanted it and that too with Vikram, Aishwarya and all the other actors in the frame. Commenting on why Mani was so adamant on making the scene as precarious as possible, the source said Mani himself had been in a similar situation when his film Bombay released. A bomb went off in midair and he was saved by just a few seconds in 1995.

Aishwarya Dhanush giving voice for the ex- world beauty. Mani ratnam approached Actor suriya voice to Govinda. Sources in the know had it that famous dubbing artist Savitha was seen in Prasad Studio, where the dubbing process of ‘Ravana’ is on.
